One Tiny Lie

“I don’t have all the pieces to fix this beautiful, trapped, broken man, but I do have one piece and it’s mine to give. For one night, for all nights. For however long he wants it. Me. Completely.”  -K.A. Tucker, One Tiny Lie

Goodreads Book Description:

Livie has always been the stable one of the two Cleary sisters, handling her parents’ tragic death and Kacey’s self-destructive phase with strength and maturity. But underneath that exterior is a little girl hanging onto the last words her father ever spoke to her. “Make me proud,” he had said. She promised she would…and she’s done her best over the past seven years with every choice, with every word, with every action.

Livie walks into Princeton with a solid plan, and she’s dead set on delivering on it: Rock her classes, set herself up for medical school, and meet a good, respectable guy that she’s going to someday marry. What isn’t part of her plan are Jell-O shots, a lovable, party animal roommate she can’t say ‘no’ to, and Ashton, the gorgeous captain of the men’s rowing team. Definitely him. He’s an arrogant ass who makes Livie’s usually non-existent temper flare and everything she doesn’t want in a guy. Worse, he’s best friends and roommates with Connor, who happens to fits Livie’s criteria perfectly. So why does she keep thinking about Ashton?

As Livie finds herself facing mediocre grades, career aspirations she no longer thinks she can handle, and feelings for Ashton that she shouldn’t have, she’s forced to let go of her last promise to her father and, with it, the only identity that she knows.

 Valeria’s Book Review:

I thought that Ten Tiny Breaths had captured my heart…until I read One Tiny Lie!!!

This book captured my heart with every chapter that I finished!

One Tiny Lie is the second book to this beautiful series that follows Kacey’s sister on her own journey as she starts college. Livie and Ashton who are complete opposites, who might have more in common then they know, meet one night and everything changes…

I don’t quite know where to begin when it comes to Ashton…all I can say is that he is another book boyfriend to add to your list! And that not everything is what it seems when it comes to him.

“You said you wanted to forget everything. But…I don’t want you to ever forget a thing that happened between us. Ever.”
The most gentle of smiles passes over Ashton’s face. “Irish, if there’s one thing I’ve never been able to forget, it’s single second with you.”

Everyone has their secrets and demons that you don’t share with just anyone. Ashton can come off as the perfect, sexy, put together guy that has it all, but even he has things kept in the dark.

He’s broken and tortured in his own life…even though he comes off confident and hot with those flirty comments, the cute glances he throws at Livie, and that bright smile of his that he has at every minute,  there is something deeper behind his carefree exterior and when Livie shows up in his life, things change and he opens himself up to her which he had never done so before.

When his back story came out, I cried so much that it actually made my heart hurt!

Everything made sense and I got a better understanding as to why Ashton was the way he was. You should definitely expect the unexpected when it comes to K.A. Tucker and her writing!

“I know I shouldn’t ask, but I do it anyway. “What you said in that note. Why?”
He looks away for a moment and I watch his jaw clench. When he meets my eyes, there’s resignation there. “Because you’re not a one-night girl, Irish.” Leaning in to place a kiss on my jawline, he whispers, “You’re my forever girl.”

And as for Livie, I really liked reading about her journey starting college, as she tried to figure out what she wanted most out of her life.

She has always taken the safe road. The right road. So when she met Connor she knew that he was the one. He was the safe and perfect guy that she knew she would marry one day, and that was all she ever wanted. And clearly Ashton wasn’t.

Livie learns to let go of the perfect life that she envisioned and she begins to really live; she learns to choose with her heart over her head.

“I walk away. I walk away from the voices, the shouts, the disappointment.
I walk away from my deceptions, my mistakes, my regrets. I walk away from all that I am supposed to be and all I cannot be. For all of it is a lie.”

It’s a journey that we are taken on, and everything about it is just perfect. It is so beautifully written and nothing drags on as you finish each and every chapter!

There is definitely some hot and steamy scenes in this book, but it’s very tastefully written and not graphic. But trust me, you’ll feel it!

The whole theme of the story is to live and let go. You can’t live your life a lie, because everything isn’t kept in the dark for so long. Not everything in life is perfect and planning it out will only make things harder when reality and life comes at you with a different plan.

“Life has a funny way of creating it’s own tests. It throws curve balls that make you do and think and feel things that are in direct conflict with what you had planned and don’t allow you to operate in terms of black and white.”

Highly recommend this book, you will absolutely love it!! And you will absolutely love that we get to see a bit of Kasey and Trent in this book, so thank you again K.A. Tucker for an amazing reading experience once again!

Goodreads Book Description:

Kacey Cleary’s whole life imploded four years ago in a drunk-driving accident. Now she’s working hard to bury the pieces left behind—all but one. Her little sister, Livie. Kacey can swallow the constant disapproval from her born-again aunt Darla over her self-destructive lifestyle; she can stop herself from going kick-boxer crazy on Uncle Raymond when he loses the girls’ college funds at a blackjack table. She just needs to keep it together until Livie is no longer a minor, and then they can get the hell out of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

But when Uncle Raymond slides into bed next to Livie one night, Kacey decides it’s time to run. Armed with two bus tickets and dreams of living near the coast, Kacey and Livie start their new lives in a Miami apartment complex, complete with a grumpy landlord, a pervert upstairs, and a neighbor with a stage name perfectly matched to her chosen “profession.” But Kacey’s not worried. She can handle all of them. What she can’t handle is Trent Emerson in apartment 1D.

Kacey doesn’t want to feel. She doesn’t. It’s safer that way. For everyone. But sexy Trent finds a way into her numb heart, reigniting her ability to love again. She starts to believe that maybe she can leave the past where it belongs and start over. Maybe she’s not beyond repair.

But Kacey isn’t the only one who’s broken. Seemingly perfect Trent has an unforgiveable past of his own; one that, when discovered, will shatter Kacey’s newly constructed life and send her back into suffocating darkness.

Valeria’s Book Review:

I have never related more to anyone in a book until I read Ten Tiny Breaths. Kacey has to be my absolute favorite character in all of the books that I have read. I related so much to her when I was reading and it made me see just how similar we are to each other. The fact that Kacey is a badass and doesn’t take crap from anyone, is someone I aspire to be. But she is hardcore, protective, caring and doesn’t want to feel or have anything to do with any guy. Just by seeing that in her, it was as if I was reading about myself!

K.A. Tucker  definitely had me hooked…more like obsessed with her books!!!

As soon as I finished reading Ten Tiny Breaths I went straight to One Tiny Lie (the second book to the series).

The whole book is filled with mystery, love and so much emotion. Towards the end you see that the story has an unexpected twist and you would have never thought things to turn out the way they do! This book will definitely have you turning page after page.

The fact that the story is so raw and real made it that much more perfect. It made me realize that anyone could be living this reality, and maybe this same exact situation who could relate exactly to what both Kacey and Livie are living.

“I don’t hate you. I could never hate you. Give me your heart, Kacey. I’ll take everything that comes with it.”

Trent is the absolute hot, sexy, perfect book boyfriend that will make you fall in love with him almost immediately!

“No human can bury their past indefinitely. It’s only a matter of time before you crack.”

He has a past, a very dark past that will shock you and make you realize why he is the way he is. The unexpected turn of events will open up answers about everything that he hide. Trent has good intentions, and he is only trying to look out for Kacey. He cares about her and wants her to let go and not hurt anymore. He is there for her and he wishes that she could see what is right in front of her.

“I’ll make you whole again, Kacey. I promise you, I will.”

You will see just how much they each come to need each other through their dark times.

“I can feel his very existence as if it’s wrapping its hand around my soul, cradling it, trying to protect it from harm and I’m terrified. Terrified because I don’t ever want the feeling to end.”

Kacey didn’t plan on falling for him, or even wanting to talk to him whatsoever. But I am a strong believer that things happen for a reason, and why they meet is exactly for a reason, so when she does you know that it was meant to be. That together they both  empower each other and need one another to overcome the obstacles in their lives.

“For two years, I haven’t given anyone the time of day. Now, here I am, day one into our new life, and I’m ready to straddle this guy on the washer.”

You will absolutely love Ten Tiny Breaths, just like I did! A beautifully written novel, with so much detail and realness to it.

The Edge of Never

“Heart always wins out over the mind. The heart, although reckless and suicidal and a masochist all on its own, always gets its way.”  -J.A. Redmerski, The Edge of Never

Book Rating: 5 out of 5

Goodreads Book Description:

Twenty-year-old Camryn Bennett had always been one to think out-of-the-box, who knew she wanted something more in life than following the same repetitive patterns and growing old with the same repetitive life story. And she thought that her life was going in the right direction until everything fell apart.

Determined not to dwell on the negative and push forward, Camryn is set to move in with her best friend and plans to start a new job. But after an unexpected night at the hottest club in downtown North Carolina, she makes the ultimate decision to leave the only life she’s ever known, far behind.

With a purse, a cell phone and a small bag with a few necessities, Camryn, with absolutely no direction or purpose boards a Greyhound bus alone and sets out to find herself. What she finds is a guy named Andrew Parrish, someone not so very different from her and who harbors his own dark secrets. But Camryn swore never to let down her walls again. And she vowed never to fall in love.

But with Andrew, Camryn finds herself doing a lot of things she never thought she’d do. He shows her what it’s really like to live out-of-the-box and to give in to her deepest, darkest desires. On their sporadic road-trip he becomes the center of her exciting and daring new life, pulling love and lust and emotion out of her in ways she never imagined possible. But will Andrew’s dark secret push them inseparably together, or tear them completely apart?

Valeria’s Book Review:

Camryn and Andrew…the most perfect book couple in my eyes to have ever made me crave something so spontaneous and beautiful like the relationship they have.

Camryn is set on leaving her home, who finds herself stuck with Andrew on the bus to nowhere, who he later becomes her whole world.

I swear that I sometimes tell myself to not get too emotionally attached to the book and characters because I always end up in heartbreak or denial when the story ends; and that was exactly what happened here with this one!

“I think that if past lives are real then we have been lovers in every single one of them. I’ve known you for a short time, but I feel like I’ve known you forever.”

I felt so emotionally attached to Camryn in this book. I think that any teen/young adult who is lost in their own world, who want to escapee from real life and just get away can relate. Then again there were other things that made me see myself in her and it felt good knowing that I wouldn’t be the only one out there with the same thoughts and emotions as Camryn.

“Well, everybody needs help feeling alive again every once in a while.” “No,” she says seriously, and my gaze falls back on hers, “I didn’t say again, Andrew; for making me feel alive for the first time.”

And as for Andrew, definitely another book boyfriend! From the very beginning he was already being that smart ass, funny, cool guy that drew you towards him but made you want to slap him in the face for his comebacks and remarks.

I think sometimes we all need an Andrew in our own lives. We need someone to make us feel free, make us want to run wild and think differently then what we are so used to doing in our ordinary lives…and that’s Andrew for you! It was just another reason why I fell in love with him, from the start.

“Just that dwelling and planning is bullshit, you dwell on the past, you can’t move forward. Spend too much time planning for the future and you just push yourself backwards, or you stay stagnant in the same place all your life. Live in the moment, where everything is just right, take your time and limit your bad memories and you’ll get wherever it is you’re going a lot faster and with less bumps in the road along the way.”

This book is about living in the moment. Going day by day and seeing what new thing this day will provide you with! It’s so beautifully written, that it makes you forget about the world and live in Camryn’s and Andrew’s for just some time. If anything this book will teach you something, you might see life differently once you’re done drying the tears from your eyes once it is over, but I think that out of this story, you will stay with a memory or a thought about wanting to live and knowing how to do so when you need it the most.

“The mind may be what’s best, but I don’t give a shit what my mind is telling me anymore. Right now, I want to live in the moment.”

This book is such an AMAZING read, definitely one of my favorites ever! Highly recommend this book.

“You were the missing piece of my soul, the breath in my lungs, and the blood in my veins.”

Currently watching Hercules for the one hundredth time and falling in love with it just as I did when I first watched it.

“People do crazy things… when they’re in love.”

I grew up watching Disney, so of course my obsession is real!

And as I sit here watching my favorite Disney movie, I can’t help but love how much Hercules and Meg are perfect for each other.

I love their love story and I’m a lover of love!

I love how Meg is scared to admit that she has feelings for Hercules throughout the movie, and since she’s been heartbroken before, she’s afraid to have feelings and fall for him.

Hercules on the other hand, falls for her and he would do anything to be with her. He believes that she is everything and more, but even when she hurts him, he doesn’t loose the feelings he has for her.

He’s in love with her, so much that he was willing to give up his life for her, and give up living in Mount Olympus to stay on Earth with her.

“Father, this is the moment I’ve always dreamed of but a life without Meg, even an immortal life would be empty. I wish to stay on Earth with her. I finally know where I belong.”

I love them so much, definitely one of my favorite Disney couples!

“For a true hero isn’t measured by the size of his strength, but by the strength of his heart.”

So regardless of how old I am, I will always be a Disney obsessed kid at heart…so  here’s to love and never growing up!

Dare You To

Dare You To

“A sliver of hope sneaks past my walls and I slam every opening shut. Emotion is evil. People who make me feel are worse. I take comfort in the stone inside me. If I don’t feel, I don’t hurt.”

Goodreads Book Description:

“No.” I whisper the reply. I hate him and I hate myself for wanting him to touch me again….

That’s how Beth finds herself living with an aunt who doesn’t want her and going to a school that doesn’t understand her. At all. Except for the one guy who shouldn’t get her, but does….

Ryan Stone is the town golden boy, a popular baseball star jock-with secrets he can’t tell anyone. Not even the friends he shares everything with, including the constant dares to do crazy things. The craziest? Asking out the Skater girl who couldn’t be less interested in him.

But what begins as a dare becomes an intense attraction neither Ryan nor Beth expected. Suddenly, the boy with the flawless image risks his dreams-and his life-for the girl he loves, and the girl who won’t let anyone get too close is daring herself to want it all….

Valeria’s Book Review:

If I had to choose one of my favorite books ever it would definitely have to be DARE YOU TO!!!

I don’t think I have ever fallen in love with a book as much as this one. I had tears streaming down my face when I finished reading it and honestly I wanted more! After I realized that it was really over, that my life was going back to normal after being transported into this story, I went back to my favorite parts and just kept thinking about Beth and Ryan and how much I wanted their love story!

I read this book before Pushing the Limits, the story of Noah and Echo; which I didn’t know at the time that it was the first book in the series but regardless I fell in love with it, not expecting it to turn out the way it did…especially since the story began with just a simple dare!

I absolutely loved Beth and Ryan’s story!

I related so much to Beth since the very beginning and I knew that I would love her because she wasn’t the perfect girl that had her life figured out. She was the complete opposite of that, but nonetheless an amazing character that struggles with her emotions and love, family issues and her feelings when it came to caring about others. Throughout the book I saw a little bit of myself in her, and there were so many similarities that I understood what she was feeling and why she would behave or feel a certain way.

That made me love her even more. She was a badass and a hardcore girl, who didn’t care what anyone thought of her, but deep down you knew she was hiding from her real self.

How many more of us are faking the facade? How many more of us are pretending to be something we’re not? Even better, how many of us will have the courage to be ourselves regardless of what others think?”

Ryan on the other hand is the perfect book boyfriend, who you will fall in love with immediately for his sweet and caring personality. He is no bad boy, quite the gentleman actually, but honestly that alone will do enough damage to your heart. And he’s hot and he plays baseball…so what more could you ask for!?

I love that we get both POV’s throughout the book which allows us to see what each character is feeling. Both Beth and Ryan, who are complete opposites of each other, come together as one, when Ryan chooses his own path and learns how to stand by his own, and Beth learns to trust in others and lets herself be open and loved.

That must be love: when everything else in the world could implode and you wouldn’t care as long as you had that one person standing beside you.”

I’m a sucker for a good love story and there is definitely nothing cliché when it comes to Dare You to! As soon as you get your hands on it you will not want to put it down!

Overall, the book was just AMAZING. The writing is PERFECTION! The whole story was so emotional and beautiful that it had me crying, but also laughing at those cute and funny moments between them two. There were some scenes that both Noah and Echo were present, and I love how they are incorporated into the story somehow!

All of Katie McGarry’s books are amazing, and she really knows how to touch my heart! So this was just another beautiful addition to my favorites list. I’ve read all of her books, but I think that out of all of them Beth and Ryan’s story has to be my absolute favorite!

I highly recommend this book and all of her amazing novels.

“This overwhelming, encompassing feeling is love. It’s not perfect and it’s messy as hell. And it’s exactly what I need.”

Valeria’s Review:

I absolutely love J.A. Redmerski’s writing! I’ve read four of her books so far and as soon as I’m done reading them, I always want more! Her writing can transport you to a different world and allow you to feel the same emotions that the characters are going through.

When I finished reading this gem, I was in tears! I’m a pretty emotional person, so I cry with just about anything that has to do with romance, books, good movies etc. and this definitely was one of them that had me crying and wishing for that crazy love that one truly desires and looks for. I can tell you that I have never read anything like this, especially when it comes to the love story of Bray and Elias.

They say things happen for a reason, and I think that the ending to their story has a true reason for things happening the way they did. The love and bond that they’ve had since they were kids is unbreakable, no matter the circumstances and difficulties they face along the way.

They seem like the modern Bonnie and Clyde throughout the book because of their loyal companionship through their own difficult times. Especially when it came to Bray. Elias was always there for her no matter what. He would look out for her, when she couldn’t do so herself. and regardless of her past and what she did, he would be there without any judgement towards her whatsoever. He was so in love that he was willing to give up his own life to save hers. That alone is enough to show you how much someone can really love you and care about you the way he did.

With everything that Bray is going through with dealing with her own emotions and sadness, her period of depression and just about everything that had to do with emotional attachment and love; it made me relate to her so much. I felt like I was living her life because of how similar the situation was with me. The fact that she had Elias throughout her most difficult and vulnerable moments made me see that there are people who truly love you and will do anything to make things better for you, however they can.

The whole story hit home with me, so that’s why I absolutely loved it! I highly recommend this book. It’s both emotional and raw, filled with love and pain at the same time. It was such an amazing read, that you won’t want to put it down. I just wish I would’ve read it sooner!
