“I was more myself with you during those three days than I’ve ever been with anyone in my life. It’d be easier if I could be fake with you, but you bring out everything in me, little Ann. All of it.” -Wendy Higgins, Sweet Peril
Book Rating: 4 out of 5
Goodreads’ Book Description:
Anna Whitt, the daughter of a guardian angel and a demon, promised herself she’d never do the work of her father—polluting souls. She’d been naive to make such a vow. She’d been naive about a lot of things.
Haunted by demon whisperers, Anna does whatever she can to survive, even if it means embracing her dark side and earning an unwanted reputation as her school’s party girl. Her life has never looked more bleak. And all the while there’s Kaidan Rowe, son of the Duke of Lust, plaguing her heart and mind.
When an unexpected lost message from the angels surfaces, Anna finds herself traveling the globe with Kopano, son of Wrath, in an attempt to gain support of fellow Nephilim and give them hope for the first time. It soon becomes clear that whatever freedoms Anna and the rest of the Neph are hoping to win will not be gained without a fight. Until then, Anna and Kaidan must put aside the issues between them, overcome the steamiest of temptations yet, and face the ultimate question: is loving someone worth risking their life?
Valeria’s Book Review:
This book nearly killed me but gave me life all at the same time.
The story continues where things left off between Anna and Kaidan and my heart was exploding from sadness every time that I turned the page.
Sweet Evil leaves you with so many unanswered questions and mixed feelings about the ending that it leaves you wanting more!
Except this wasn’t like the first book. It sucked. It sucked reading how sad Anna was because Kaidan had pushed her away and made her believe that they weren’t meant for one another. He leaves Anna for good and all she could do is stay and be alone with her heart breaking over him.
I could feel Anna’s feelings after not hearing from Kaidan as time goes on. She fell hard for him, I don’t blame her, but you could really tell just how little time really created a bond between the two of them.
“Too much was between us, pulling us together at the same time as it pushed us apart. Our need for each other would always be in constant battle with our need to keep the other safe.”
Anna is sad and depressed over Kaidan, but with the help of her dad and the distractions that she goes through “working”as a Nephilim has given her a new identity, not only that but a complete new badass look. Everything she once was has changed and everything that she believed in is now dead. The new her is more powerful as she learns how to fight and protect herself. She’s discovering who she really is and what her powers will bring to the table.
So when an Angel sends her a message that she will be the savior of all the Nephilim race, it is up to her to gather as many allies as she could to finally bring peace on Earth from the Dukes and the evil spirits.
But what good will all of this do if she doesn’t have the boy she loves by her side?
But as time goes by..and I mean a long time, Kaidan finally returns. Although both have changed in so many ways and so much time has passed between the two of them, the chemistry and love is still there and no one, not even the Dukes and Angels will be able to stop them this time.
“Anna… the night of the summit, when you were saved, it was the only time in my life I’ve thanked God for anything”
Those words. They would melt me over and over for a long time.”
When they both see each other after months, it was as if time never stopped. I couldn’t take the anticipation when they were to finally reunite after such a long time. Both Anna and Kaidan feel it, there is no denying their feelings for one another. Together they can overcome anyone and anything that tries to get in their way of their love.
“I love you,” I whispered.
“I’ve loved you longer,” he said.
As they both try to make things work between the two, their bond only grows more and more. And alongside with all of their friends and allies that they are now gathering to fight against the Dukes, it was as if they were meant to be from the very beginning.
“We had a secret knowledge that demons couldn’t fathom. They saw love as a weakness, but they were wrong. Love would keep us going, love was our strength.”
Relationships build, friendships grow stronger and love finally begins to heal it all.
Get ready to fall in love with Kaidan Rowe once again…a book about trust, love and friendship will show you just how much you truly need those you love by your side.
