Book Rating: 5 out of 5

 Goodreads’ Book Description:

Acclaimed author Katie McGarry returns with the knockout new story of two high school seniors who are about to learn what winning really means.

Champion kickboxer Haley swore she’d never set foot in the ring again after one tragic night. But then the guy she can’t stop thinking about accepts a mixed martial arts fight in her honor. Suddenly, Haley has to train West Young. All attitude, West is everything Haley promised herself she’d stay away from. Yet he won’t last five seconds in the ring without her help.

West is keeping a big secret from Haley. About who he really is. But helping her-fighting for her-is a shot at redemption. Especially since it’s his fault his family is falling apart. He can’t change the past, but maybe he can change Haley’s future.

Hayley and West have agreed to keep their relationship strictly in the ring. But as an unexpected bond forms between them and attraction mocks their best intentions, they’ll face their darkest fears and discover love is worth fighting for.

Valeria’s Book Review:

I’m a complete sucker for romance books and once again Katie McGarry stole my heart with her final novel in The Pushing the Limits series.

West and Haley both made me see how strong and willing a person is to go through life  with your partner in crime, even when times are hard.

This book kept me on the edge and made me want more as soon as I finished it.

The writing, the style and the story will get to you! Katie McGarry’s writing is simply perfection. I can’t emphasize enough just how much she makes you feel the same pain, joy,  or even sadness as the characters do when you read her books. She does such an amazing job at making you feel everything and every emotion all at once.

In this last book of the series she gives us two strong and willing characters that have so much going on in their own personal life’s…so when both Haley and West cross paths, you know it’s for a reason.

“We’re strong together, Hayley. Stronger then we are apart.”
“I don’t feel strong,” I whisper.
“Then I’ll be strong enough for both of us.”
My fingers dig into his shoulders and I cling to him.
“I love you.”

Haley’s life is not easy. After her father lost his job and their family lost their home, they had to make some changes and move into her uncle’s home. Living with her uncle is pure hell, and things only seem to get worse for her…But Haley is both strong and smart, and she is willing to do what she can to stay positive and not let anyone bring her down, regardless of the circumstances that life throws her way.

“I’ve had a lot of time to think and even though the silence is new, the loneliness isn’t. How is it possible to have been surrounded by people and never feel complete?”

West Young is a complete troublemaker. He looks though and scary on the outside, but he’s a troubled boy with his own family problems.

“I don’t go looking for trouble. Trouble usually finds me.”

After stealing money form his sister Rachel, he can’t stop blaming himself for the car accident that she was involved in. He runs away from home, leaving everyone behind. He thinks he’s doing good by running away from his problems, but only to find that Haley will now be one of them too. After a couple of guys try to hurt her, West comes into her defense and stands up for her, a complete stranger, and is willing to take a match in her name.

Without knowing a single thing about her, West is willing to protect this girl at all costs. And Hayley will do what she can to help him and herself as well.  Now the bad boy rich kid and the former fighter will have to stick together to get through this situation that they  are both now involved in.

“She’s probably right on both counts, but there’s something dark in her eyes. It’s the same shadow I see whenever she stops me. “You’re worth fighting for.”

But as time goes by, Haley can’t stop staring at West every time they train together. She knew that by accepting to teach him, it would only be a matter of pure business. She couldn’t afford to fall for a guy like him again. But West, being the complete hottie and smart ass that he is, only eludes her more and more without even trying, by showing his true self to her…and there is nothing she can say or do to stop her heart from wanting him.

“West Young. My West Young. The guy who fought for me when Conner and his friend tried to jump me. The guy who took on a fight to help save my family. The guy who held me while I mourned my own losses. That’s West Young. The man I’m falling for.”

A story of trust, friendship and love these two main characters show us just how much one person can really mean to us. Regardless of what we have in our own lives, there are others who are suffering just as much as we are, and we don’t realize it.

“We crossed beyond friends the night we spent in your room and you know that. Fuck, Haley, there isn’t a moment that we haven’t been into each other and I’m not the only one in the room aware of it.”

West Young stole my heart. He was willing to do anything to protect this girl. And without trying he broke down her walls slowly. Both characters are strong, guarded but caring people. I admire Haley and what she has gone through with her own family. As you read through this book, you are able to feel and see firsthand just how important the meaning of family is and why we should appreciate what we have before it is gone.

“I’m in love with you. I’m in love with you and I don’t know how to make you feel better. I’m in love with you and I shouldn’t be. I’m in love with you and once you figure out who I am, you’re not going to love me. I’m in love with you and I seem to fuck up the ones who love me back.”

I highly recommend this book…not only because it is one of my favorite YA series, but because these books transport you into their own world, both teaching us and making us feel the story and hardships of what people go through in their lives. What I love the most is that you are able to escape reality when it comes to this series, and fall in love with all the different characters and their traits  as well.

Thank you Katie McGarry for this AMAZING series! I will always cherish these characters, and I know I will be rereading them again and again in the near future!
