So Sierra lives two lives: her life in Oregon and her life at Christmas. And leaving one always means missing the other.

Until this particular Christmas, when Sierra meets Caleb, and one life eclipses the other.

By reputation, Caleb is not your perfect guy: years ago, he made an enormous mistake and has been paying for it ever since. But Sierra sees beyond Caleb’s past and becomes determined to help him find forgiveness and, maybe, redemption. As disapproval, misconceptions, and suspicions swirl around them, Caleb and Sierra discover the one thing that transcends all else: true love.

Valeria’s Book Review:

What Light is the perfect book to read this holiday season!

This story will capture your heart and make you wish you had your own Christmas love story this holiday.

Sierra goes back and forth every year after Thanksgiving to California to her family’s Christmas tree lot, and every time she has to leave her friends and life behind for a few weeks to be with her dad and help out. This tradition has been going on since she can remember but this year it’s different…and it changes everything.

Something happens that changes the way she looks at leaving her ordinary life behind seem like a good thing when she meets the cute boy with a dimpled smile.

“It’s your heart. No one else gets a say in that.”

Caleb is cute but he isn’t perfect. He has had a painful past in which he is unable to escape from, as well as family issues that he must live with everyday of his life.  Rumors spread fast and everyone knows who he is…and what he has done. Sierra meets him and she’s automatically drawn by him, until she finds out what happened that makes her question who he really is and why things happen the way they did. Yet she is willing to ignore all the judgments and concerns her parents and best friends think about him in order to get to know the real him.

“People think what they want. That’s what I’ve had to accept,” he says. “I can fight it, but that’s exhausting. I can feel hurt about it, but that’s torture. Or I can decide it’s their loss.”

Sierra has been taught to give people a chance, and that is what she does with Caleb. She’s only here until Christmas so why not let herself enjoy the time that she has and hangout with the cute boy who buys Christmas trees to give to those in need. Day after day he proves to her that what happened in the past has stayed there. And Sierra sees that he is not what everyone makes him out to be, only falling hard for him before she has to return home.

“Sierra, it’s Christmastime. Put a stupid mistletoe over his head and kiss him already!”

Time isn’t enough when it comes to the two of them. Every hour of the day seems to be slipping from their hands as the days near for Sierra to go back to her normal life in Oregon. They know that Christmas is approaching and neither wants to face what happens afterwards, but regardless of this short amount of time that they’ve shared with each other they will never forget what they build.

But is there a future for them after all?

Everything about the story and characters will capture you. The writing flows effortlessly, and it keeps you wanting more and more of the story  after every chapter.

I really enjoyed this book, especially it being perfect for Christmas time. I highly I recommend it to anyone who loves the cute-cheesy-love stories. You will enjoy it as much as I did, and probably fall in love with Caleb yourself!

I’m hoping for a sequel because being the hopeless romantic that I am, I always want more of what happens next! I would love to see where Caleb and Sierra end up in each other’s lives in the future and if it was meant to be from the very beginning.
